Ian O’Connell

Growing up on the north shore of Cape Cod, Ian began his career in the marine industry at an early age. After mating on a charter fishing boat for six seasons, Ian became trained as a small boat mechanic at a local marina. Upon graduation from The Massachusetts Maritime Academy in 2000 with a BS in Marine Transportation, Ian launched his career as a captain aboard the motor vessel “Whale Watcher”, whale watching from Barnstable Harbor in summer and as a high speed ferry in Florida in the winter. In 2002, Ian went to work for a large Cape Cod yacht yard where he honed his marine electronic, refrigeration, air conditioning and large boat mechanical skills while serving as a delivery captain, tow boat operator, and in 2006 built his own 30’ custom sport fishing boat. In 2007 Ian took a yacht captain’s job running a 112 Westport Motor yacht, cruising New England in the summer and the Caribbean/Bahamas in the winter. After a 17 year hiatus, Ian rejoined Millway Marina as Service Manager in March 2016.
